Overview
The M.A.R.E. project, now in its third edition, is gaining an increasingly international dimension, also thanks to the scientific results produced, which represent a unique contribution to the world of research concerning the Mediterranean Sea basin.
"The Mediterranean Sea, explored aboard the Catamaran ONE, provides us with a unique insight into how interconnected and full of life the world truly is."
Barbara Cimmino, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility & Innovation Yamamay
The progress of 2024
Our Journey
After studying and mapping the Tyrrhenian Sea in 2022 and the Adriatic Sea in 2023, this year’s research activities of the Foundation will focus on the sea area between Italy, France, and Spain.
Project’s t-shirts
We have provided the project's official T-shirts. These t-shirts are made entirely with Repetable® by RadiciGroup, an innovative polyester yarn obtained through the post-consumer recycling of PET bottles. These t-shirts are:

Our Brand Ambassador
On board joined the Mission our Brand Ambassadors, to further promote the project as well as spreading the message of environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation to the new generations.
Giulia Arena, Influencer
"Rarely have I felt as useful and involved as during the expeditions of the M.A.R.E. Project. The power expressed through each person's small effort is a drop in a vast sea. But if there's one thing I've learned from these journeys, it's that these small Drops come together to form one immense Ocean."
Arianna Ventura, Digital Creator
"When I was invited by Yamamay to take part in the M.A.R.E. Project, I was truly happy! It was an experience that provided me with the tools to deepen my knowledge of marine biodiversity. The sea must be respected and protected, and I find it truly essential to spread awareness of its importance! Through small daily actions, we can really make a difference!"
Irene Saderini, Director and Author
"The sea has this dramatic characteristic of being immensely vast and boundless. We know so little about the sea, but one thing is certain: if the sea dies, we die too."
Patrizia Tettamanzi, prof. Ordinario di Economia Aziendale e Sustainability, Università Cattaneo LIUC di Castellanza
“For the second time, I was invited with immense pleasure by Yamamay, allowing me to once again appreciate the value of the M.A.R.E. Project and its distinctive elements compared to 2023. It was a delight to share experiences with people of different ages and professions. The catamaran project and the CVC case will also be cited and discussed in an upcoming book edited by LIUC authors, which will focus on sport and sustainability”.
Giovanni Schneider, Textile Entrepreneur
"As a textile entrepreneur, I feel a strong sense of responsibility for the damage that excessive clothing consumption is causing to our seas. The European Union is on the right track to mitigate these effects by promoting more responsible consumption, but we need concrete and reliable data to draft effective laws."
Alessandra Alagia, Personal Assistant at Yamamay
"Being actively involved in the M.A.R.E. project has been a unique experience. Sharing these days with marine biologists and conducting research activities has been a true hands-on learning experience! Now more than ever, I will spread the importance of preserving our seas for us, but especially for future generations! Change starts with us."
Federica Colombo, E-Commerce Specialist Yamamay
"I am grateful to have had the opportunity to actively participate in the third edition of the M.A.R.E. project. This experience has made me even more aware of how each of us, starting from small daily actions, can make a difference in preserving and safeguarding our ocean and our planet. Thanks to our marine biologists for their valuable and ongoing work of research and analysis."
Lorenzo Gedi, IT Team at Yamamay
"An experience that we recommend to everyone so that they can truly understand what it means to be in contact with nature and to be inspired by the passion of those who do it for a living."
Jacopo Bozzo, IT Team at Yamamay
"Our first time on the Catamaran ONE was incredible, full of indescribable emotions and new knowledge."
Elisa Galmarini, CSR Data Analyst at Yamamay
"Being aboard the Catamaran ONE is an indescribable emotion. The researchers' passion has continually stimulated my curiosity and desire to learn new things: I believe this is the right key to raise awareness among as many people as possible about the importance of safeguarding our seas."
Matilde Premazzi, Sustainability Communication Specialist at Yamamay
"These days aboard the Catamaran ONE have given me unique emotions and reminded me how important it is for me to be in contact with the sea and nature. Thanks to Yamamay for giving me the opportunity to live this experience and assist the marine biologists of the Project in their daily activities. Every day, they work hard to safeguard biodiversity, educating people about respecting the marine ecosystem."
