Progetto M.A.R.E. 2025

Overview

Having departed from the Aragonese Castle in Taranto, the fourth edition of the M.A.R.E. project—an acronym for Marine Adventure for Research & Education—covered approximately 1800 miles along the coasts of Sicily, Greece, and Turkey to complete a research cycle that lasted four years and involved the entire Mediterranean basin.

“The catamaran One has now become the epicenter of an international research network, and over the years, hundreds of guests have rotated aboard, all involved in collection and sampling activities, along with dozens of researchers from Italian and foreign institutions. Such an articulated work has not been carried out in the Mediterranean for decades, and it is a source of great satisfaction for us to be the promoters of this initiative”

Stefano Crosta, President of the Centro Velico Caprera ETS Foundation

Our Journey

After studying and mapping the Tyrrhenian Sea in 2022, the Adriatic Sea in 2023, and the sea off the coast of Italy, France, and Spain in 2024, this year the Foundation's research activities focused on the Southeastern Mediterranean.
